Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This policy explains how the Box Of Lies app for Android and iPhone ("the app"), made by Amr Gamal ("we", "us"), handles information. If you have any questions, email devamrgamal@gmail.com.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- What you type in the game, like player names, stays on your device.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID.
- We don't sell your information, and the app has no analytics or tracking of its own.
Information stored on your device
To remember your settings, the app saves the following on your device only:
- the player names you enter
- your "points to win", sound and tutorial settings
- which mystery pictures you've already played, so they don't repeat
- whether you've bought "Remove ads"
We never receive this information. It's deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
Mystery pictures
The pictures in the boxes are downloaded from Google Firebase (Realtime Database and Cloud Storage). As with any download, Google's servers receive your device's IP address and the basic technical details needed to deliver the files. We don't use this to identify you. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
Ads
The free version of the app shows banner and full-screen ads served by Google AdMob. To show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud, Google's ads software in the app collects and shares with Google your device's advertising ID and app set ID, your IP address (which can indicate your approximate location), how you use the app and interact with ads (such as app launches, taps and video views) and diagnostic information about the app's performance. This data is encrypted in transit. Where you allow it, Google may also use it to personalize the ads you see.
If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent with Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from the Privacy settings link on the app's home screen.
You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in your device settings (on Android, look for Ads in your Google or privacy settings; on iPhone, go to Privacy & Security → Tracking), and manage your Google ad settings in My Ad Center. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Buying "Remove ads" turns these ads off.
Purchases
"Remove ads" is an in-app purchase handled by Google Play (or the Apple App Store on iPhone). We never see your payment details; the app only receives confirmation that the purchase is active. See the Google Privacy Policy and the Apple Privacy Policy.
Sharing
The Share buttons open your device's share menu. You choose which app to share with; the app doesn't send anything by itself.
Permissions
The app uses internet access (to download pictures and ads), vibration (for game feedback) and the permissions that Google's ads and billing services need. It doesn't request access to your camera, microphone, precise location, contacts or files.
Children
Box Of Lies is a party game for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we'll help remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.
